| Now in 3-D! |
[Jan. 4th, 2010|07:38 am] |
I think the problem I'm going to have to at one point confront is that I, at one point or another, am going to disagree with every movie critic I ever agree with. Or listen to. Or read. Or watch.
I know, this is the point where I would gesture to the animator, who will instruct the CGI artists to make the "rolling eyes" face - but since I've gone completely overbudget, I'm just going to have to tell the soundtrack composers to do the "wah waahh" sound from the brass section.

| Stoya |
[Jan. 3rd, 2010|06:41 am] |
Holy fucking shit. Stoya is so, fucking, hot. Wow. WOW. Her whole look is the female ideal read from my mind. Dark hair, pasty white skin, other ineffables, yummy.
While we're on the subject, anyone know what site is the pornhub.com equivalent for alt porn videos? |

| Rounding Error |
[Dec. 31st, 2009|01:14 am] |
How is it that 2.29$ fries, plus 5% tax, comes out to 2.41$? According to math, it's 2.4045, i.e. rounded to 2.40$. Is McDonalds ripping ppl off 0.01 at a time? With a billion (?) orders in a year, that'd be 10 million $... |

[Dec. 28th, 2009|10:55 pm] |
For any Whose Line is it Anyway fans, i came across a fun clip (4:08; LQ) from Gepetto, featuring Wayne Brady. I've never seen the musical, but they constantly make fun of Drew Carey for it on WLIIA. |

| Arrival Update |
[Dec. 28th, 2009|01:59 pm] |
We're finally in Bonaire! We're here and we're OK!
Alright. In truth we've been in Bonaire for about 30 hours. Our initial flight out of Denver at 0100 on the 26th was cancelled because the first officer was throwing up in the parking garage. We were delayed unto 1100 on the 26th, then delayed by the snowy weather for just long enough for us to miss our connection in Atlanta. Fortunatly, there was another flight from Atlanta to Newark before the international flight was supposed to leaqve. We had to reclear security in Newark because we switched airlines, not a part of the original plan. We arrived at the gate for the continental flight just in time, with the wordsw of the check in client ringing hollow in our ears. "I cannot tell you if your bags are on the flight because htat is not a Continental baggage number."
We had 6 checked bags, and we were very careful to cross-pack in case some were lost in transit. What we didn't count on is therefore the very thing that happened. None of our check bags have arrived. Not T's scuba gear bag. Not my contacts lenses. Not M's tarot cards. Not a single drop of the $200 worth of organic, reef-safe tanning stuff. No toys. No lingerie. None of T & M's fancy bucky pilows.
It took 3 trips to the airport here (thankfully only 2.5 km from our condo) to get then to trace the bags, and we were told last night that 2 would arive at 0400 todqay from Houston. Theyu did not. We now beleive that those to at least 3 more are in route from Amsterdam and should arrive sometime tomorrow. Maybe.
Other than the lack of bags, its paradice. The snokling if stunning. The language is Dutch and the accented English is impenetrible. There are budgies and lizard in the same rainbow hues all over the 3 balconies we have. Photos will be uploaded if I even manage to get into taking them.
Scuba cert classes begin in earnest tomorrw, so I expect to be too tired to move for a few days. |

| The Residents |
[Dec. 26th, 2009|06:50 pm] |

Any fans of The Residents out there? I'd never heard of them 'til now. Let's backtrack.
I woke up during the night with a vivid vision of an eyeball wearing a top hat, and thought it a great idea. Throughout the night i consciously reminded myself to not forget the idea so as to make use of it, at least as a cool user pic somewhere. Usually by the next morning i've completely forgotten whatever idea i had if i didn't write it down immediately. This time i remembered, checked google images for top hats on eyeballs and sure enough, the idea had occurred to others. Through that i discovered there's actually a band that uses eyeballs in top hats as their gimmick.
I figured a band with such a cool gimmick had to be worth a listen at least. I tried 5-6 songs on youtube and i must say, despite some being from the 70's, it doesn't sound dated at all and i liked them all. Trippy, bizarre, pleasing sounds! (Wikipedia says Avant-garde, noise rock, experimental music, mixed media.) Their discography is daunting, what with 42 albums, but i'm gonna try their highest rated one, Not Available (1978). Hmm after reading an interesting review, i'm gonna risk 2 albums at once, as the dark Roadworms: The Berlin Sessions (2000) could be perfect for me.
They are also avid music video makers, here's a 4-song sample of their trippy vids. |

| Avatar on Which Screen? |
[Dec. 26th, 2009|04:22 pm] |
I haven't watched a movie in the theatres since 3 years. Should Avatar be the one to change this trend, or should i just watch it on the small screen? |

| The Apex Resource Predator |
[Dec. 24th, 2009|01:01 am] |
Riding through the city at night on the skytrain, i had a moment of insight (maybe). On a long drawn out timescale, a planet is a species race. A race to see which animal species most "quickly" evolves to become the apex resource predator. |
